It is with the heaviest of hearts that we temporarily close our doors. We are working tirelessly, however, with the goal of reopening as soon as possible, including keeping some of the other Rye Restaurants open and keeping as much of our team working as long as we can. Please consider supporting The General Muir, TGM Bread, Fred’s Meat & Bread (at Krog Street Market), and West Egg, which remain open for to-go orders during this time.

STALLS

The Canteen is a food hall comprised of three food stalls -- TGM Soup Co., Fred's Meat & Bread, and Yalla -- and your neighborhood bar, Square Bar, overlooking the plaza of the Centergy One building in the heart of Atlanta’s Tech Square. All of the stalls at The Canteen are owned + operated by the award-winning team behind The General Muir and TGM Bread (at Emory Point) and the original Fred's Meat & Bread and Yalla (at Krog Street Market).

The Canteen is available for event rental nightly and all day Sunday. We can tailor food options from our stalls — Fred’s Meat & Bread, Yalla, and TGM Soup Co. — or Chef-Partner (and twice James Beard Semifinalist) Todd Ginsberg can create a special menu for your event. We also have a full bar. Reach out to Shelley for more information.

NEW CONCEPT “TGM SOUP CO.” REPLACES TGM BAGEL AT THE CANTEEN
The Canteen has a new lunch concept! TGM Soup Co. opened on January 28, 2019, joining Fred's Meat & Bread, Yalla, and Square Bar. TGM Soup Co. brings to The Canteen the popular soup, salad, and bread pop-up that has been running successfully since 2016 at TGM Bread, the bakery operated by and next door to The General Muir at Emory Point. (Never fear: the soup pop-up at TGM Bread at Emory Point will continue to operate on its regular hours of 11:30am to 1:30pm Monday through Friday, also under the name TGM Soup Co.)
"The soup pop-up next to The General Muir was a way to enhance the lunch offerings and activate our wholesale bakery space during the day,” according to partner and chef Todd Ginsberg. “It has been more popular than we anticipated at The General Muir, so we decided to name it and give it some additional permanence with a second home at The Canteen.”
TGM Soup Co. offers a menu of soups, each paired with its bread “BFF,” baked fresh daily at TGM Bread, such as asiago cheese levain, cranberry walnut, pain au levain, and challah knots, as well as a selection of ready made salads. Says Ginsberg, “Soup, salad, and fresh bread is a quality lunch option that we think will serve the busy Tech Square area well.  It is a quick option to eat in, easy to take back to your desk, and also a great choice to bring home for dinner.” And while TGM Soup Co. will operate only during lunch hours, 11:00am to 3:00pm, after 3:00pm guests will be able to order pre-packaged TGM Soup Co. soup, salads, and bread to go from Square Bar.

parking

Parking is plentiful and inexpensive around The Canteen (but not free). There are at least 2 parking decks and 1 surface parking lot within a 3-5 minute walk, plus metered street parking on surrounding streets.
Georgia Tech Visitors' parking Area 6 (surface lot) and Area 8 (parking deck) are great parking options (and available to the public). The Area 6 surface lot is just across Spring St. from our building. The Area 8 parking deck is attached to the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center (at the corner of 5th + Spring), just across 5th Street from The Canteen and accessible from Spring Street. That parking deck address is 770 Spring St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308-1031. Here's a helpful map, showing Area 6 and Area 8 parking options at the far right (aka East) of the map.
You also can use the Centergy parking deck. From Spring Street make a right across the street from MidCity Lofts (you'll see signage for LA Fitness), at Abercrombie Place. Follow the driveway to the parking deck on the right. From the parking deck either exit at the street, cross, and go up the stairs, following signage to Centergy One/Building 75. Or, exit the parking deck at Level 5, take a right out of the deck and cross the plaza toward 5th Street. The entrance to The Canteen will be on your left before you get to 5th Street.
*If you miss your turn for the parking deck in front of MidCity Lofts / LA Fitness, don't worry, it's an easy fix! Proceed to the next stoplight, which is 5th Street. Turn right onto 5th Street and proceed 1 block to Williams Street (one way street) and turn right again. Turn immediately right and the parking deck will now be on your left.
The parking decks and surface lot require a credit card for payment.
There is also metered street parking on 5th Street, Spring Street, and Williams Street (maximum 4 hours, enforced Monday-Saturday, free on Sunday and City holidays); pay at the parking kiosk or with the Parkmobile app.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The Canteen is conveniently located a short walk (1/2 mile, 10 minutes) from both the Midtown and North Ave MARTA stations. From the Midtown station, the bright yellow (and free to all riders!) “Tech Trolley” even stops directly in front of our building (the Centergy Building). Please note that the Tech Trolley runs less frequently during the summer, so check the schedule here. The Midtown Alliance website is a great resource for all things Midtown, including how to get around.

Biking

Take advantage of the Relay Bike Share hub right in front of our building. Pick up a bike from another Relay Bike Share hub (including either MARTA station) and ride to us!
